It all started with a problem.

In 1995, our founder was working as a vice president at a
telecommunications firm. Growth was good, but they faced a major
nightmare: How to accurately calculate and bill the taxes for every
minute of phone time for thousands of customers living in every city,
county and state jurisdiction imaginable. Complying correctly with the
law seemed like an impossible task.
And the options for solutions were not promising. At the time, there
was only one taxation solution available on the market, but it was time
consuming, expensive and did not fit well with the firm's business
procedures.

| "There is no other option," other executives said. "Just deal with it."

| Our founder decided not to deal with it. He got frustrated with the time consuming
process of calculating taxes for thousands of jurisdictions nationwide. He knew there
had to be an easier way to manage the taxes on invoices for telecommunications
companies.

| In 1997, he found it - and BillSoft was born. He started the company with
a single idea: to take the most difficult pieces of taxation, pull them
together into one service, and do that service better than anyone else in
the world.

| Today, BillSoft solves taxation problems for companies all over the
world in every imaginable industry. Our products and services help
eliminate the taxation nightmare for many businesses. And we'll never
forget how frustrating that is.
